Santa Barbara
Douglass Parshall (1899–1990) was an American painter associated with the California plein-air and Impressionist movements, known for his vibrant landscapes, coastal scenes, and depictions of everyday life in California and the Southwest. Born in New York and trained at the Art Students League, Parshall later settled in Santa Barbara, where he became an influential figure in the local art community and a member of groups such as the California Art Club and the Santa Barbara Art Association. His work is celebrated for its sensitive handling of light and color, reflecting both the natural beauty of the West Coast and his refined artistic craftsmanship.
