Ceilidh (kale) Birkhahn creates work at the intersection of fantasy and technology, with focus on overlap between the human and the nonhuman. They enjoy theatre, visual art, composing, whispering sweet nothings at the sky, photography, writing, and have had a “piano hobby” for over fifteen years. Aside from the arts, they like making bird noises, sweet star fruit, and pretending to be a dragon.

I am learning to read again;
the letters of vacuum-trails in the carpet
eclipse the phasing moon.

I am running my fingers down the walls;
spider-dust leaving grit on my hands
with a sense-memory of childhood.

I am sitting quietly and I remember;
staring at the ceiling for hours
thinking a whirlwind of forgettable things.

I am missing the quiet moments;
those pulled-taffy depths of the afternoon
occupied only with staring into the distance.
