Maria Gutierrez is a resident artist at Able ARTS Work, based in Los Angeles, California. Maria’s work often explores 2D drawing and painting mediums on paper in a playful and illustrative way. Inspired by the themes of pop culture, the beauty of everyday life at home, and nature, Maria’s work draws on these to create vibrant and colorful images. In 2025, she created and showcased Frida Memory II in the exhibition Reflections at Able ARTS Work Gallery. The piece is a celebration of her memory of seeing her favorite artist, Frida Khalo's work in person. With the painting, Maria draws comparisons between Kahlo's iconic visuals and the vibrant birds and fruits of her hometown, Los Angeles.
