Kim Matley

honorary mention
Art
Over 65 years

Matley's drawings are guided by repetitive representations laid out in grids or rows to create cascading patterns of shape and color. His redacted figures and direct geometry are consistently defined by his use of color that can range from gradient transitions  to highlighted pops that isolate single forms / objects from the indiscriminate field.

Apart from drawing, Kim has worked extensively in ceramics. Constructing both repetitive  grid-like structures and armies of stick-like figures that would amass into similar monumental architectures.

Kim has been an artist at Slingshot since 2013 and been supported by the  Alpha Resource Center since 1994.
