The participation process for the 4th Art and Poetry Contest for people with cognitive disabilities organized by the ArtLabbé Foundation came to a close with a beautiful celebration. The event was chaired by the executive director Daniella Guerrero Cariola and inspired by the words of one of its founders, María José Fuentes Labbé, "This contest is by far our greatest satisfaction!! It's an opportunity to share with family and see little-great artists express themselves through art and poetry."
The attendees received a greeting from a great friend of ArtLabbé, Chilean artist and president of the jury Mario Toral:
"I want to congratulate the team for organizing this contest, and ArtLabbé as a whole. We artists, and I speak for all of us have always been absolutely mesmerized and deeply impressed by the art created by children and by people with cognitive disabilities.
We were struck by the originality, the strength of the imagery, the use of materials, the spaces, and the visions that produce something beyond art. It’s a magical, unparalleled creation something that can only truly be understood by experiencing it.
And so, we find ourselves in the world of dreams, where there are no limits to imagination and creativity.
Congratulations!!"
During the process that began in June of this year, we received over 200 submissions. Of those, 165 participants completed the process with pictorial works, and 10 in the area of poetry.
We had participants from Chile, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Peru, and Kenya, ranging in age from 4 to 97 years old. They were grouped into three categories: under 18, over 18, and over 60.
We had the presence of 21 institutions, represented by more than 150 people, including beneficiaries, teachers, and directors, who came to receive their gifts and take part in this celebration of Art and Culture, prepared especially for all the participants.
A special thank you to the companies, sponsors, collaborators, and donors thanks to your support, we are able to make this possible.
